Japan Tobacco Inc. launches new "Mevius baize option" product under Ploom X ADVANCED brand, featuring pear and mint flavors.

According to sources from Japan's Kakaku, Japan Tobacco Inc. has globally launched a new product under its heated tobacco brand "Ploom X ADVANCED" on March 18th, called "Mevius baize option".

 

This product is marketed for its unique "pear flavor" and 100% natural mint extract, containing 20 electronic pods with a refreshing mint taste. All mint flavors included in this product come from natural sources. It is priced at 500 yen.

On April 22, 2026, Philip Morris International released its first-quarter 2026 results. The report showed net revenues of $10.146 billion, up 9.1% year on year; adjusted diluted EPS of $1.96, up 16.0%; and smoke-free products accounting for 43% of total net revenues. A UK bill banning the legal sale of tobacco to people born on or after January 1, 2009 has completed its passage through parliament. Under the bill, those born in that group will never be able to be legally sold tobacco anywhere in the UK. The legislation is expected to receive royal assent next week. It also gives ministers powers to strengthen public-place smoking restrictions and restricts branding, promotion and advertising of vape and nicotine products aimed at children.

BAT New Zealand Says Illicit Tobacco Trade Drove Nearly 29% Revenue Decline in 2025
British American Tobacco New Zealand said the illicit tobacco trade is responsible for its profit halving and revenue falling between the 2024 and 2025 financial years. Financial results filed with the Companies Office show that BAT Holdings (New Zealand) recorded 2025 revenue of NZ$180.7 million, or about US$106.95 million based on the European Central Bank’s April 27, 2026 reference rates, down from NZ$254 million, or about US$150.33 million, in 2024.
