Settlement Reached in Trademark Dispute Between BBK and Olympic Reef

According to Tobacco Reporter on March 5th, the American tobacco product retailer BBK Tobacco & Foods LLP and a cannabis producer Olympic Reef LLC submitted a notice to the federal court in Arizona on Monday (the 3rd), announcing that they have reached a settlement in the trademark lawsuit involving the "Juicy" product.

 

BBK has registered the trademark "Juicy" since 2006, and in 2020 revised the trademark for use on their rolling papers and smoking pipes, among other products. According to the lawsuit, Olympic Reef is using the word "Juicy" and related combinations such as "Juicy Joints," "Super Juicy's," and "CBD Juicy Joints" on some products, potentially causing confusion in the market.

 

United States District Judge David G. Campbell signed an order on Thursday canceling a scheduled case management conference for Wednesday (the 5th) and ordering the case to be dismissed within 30 days of the order. Details of the settlement were not made public.

 

BBK Tobacco & Foods LLP is a distributor and retailer of tobacco-related products in the United States, while Olympic Reef LLC is a marijuana producer and processor based in Washington state.
