South Korean Parliament Holds Public Hearing on Amending Tobacco Law
South Korea Parliament discusses regulating synthetic nicotine e-cigarettes, with BAT Rothmans supporting the need for supervision.

According to N.News on December 27, the South Korean National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee recently held a public hearing on amending the "Tobacco Business Act," discussing the regulation of the use of synthetic nicotine e-cigarette products under the existing law. British American Tobacco Korea (BAT Rothmans) stated, "We agree on the necessity of regulation.


Prior to this, the company launched a synthetic nicotine e-cigarette called "Nomad" in the Korean market. This marks the first time British American Tobacco has introduced a synthetic nicotine product in South Korea.


The British American Tobacco Korea Company emphasized at the meeting that although South Korea's tobacco laws currently do not cover synthetic nicotine, the company agrees that such products need to be regulated and is willing to comply with South Korea's tobacco regulations.
