Special Operation Seizes Counterfeit Tobacco Products in Konya, Turkey

Turkish authorities raid shops in Konya, seizing hundreds of thousands of counterfeit tobacco products and arresting five suspects.

According to a report by trthaber, a special team from Turkey's anti-smuggling and organized crime department in Konya conducted raids on five shops in the Eregli district suspected of illegally selling tobacco products. The operation resulted in the seizure of 320,600 empty pods with counterfeit tax stamps, 22,500 cigarette papers, 2,230 packs of finished cigarettes, 296 bottles of e-liquid, 50 e-cigarettes, 25 kilograms of water pipe tobacco, 16 kilograms of shredded tobacco, and tobacco rolling machines and compressors. Five suspects were arrested during the operation.

Maldives Customs Report Vape Fines Reach US$42.8 Million, Mostly from Malaysia Imports

Maldives Customs data shows that fines related to illegal vapes have reached MVR 659 million (about US$42.8 million) since the country banned the import and use of electronic cigarettes. Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies is preparing to vote on several major bills before the end of the legislative session, including a full ban on vapes and e-cigarettes. The proposed reform to the General Health Law would prohibit the manufacturing, sale, import, and export of these products, imposing penalties of up to eight years in prison and fines exceeding 200,000 pesos (approximately USD 11,000).
