Staffordshire County Council Seizes Over £50,000 Illegal Tobacco Products
Staffordshire County Council officials seize over £50,000 worth of illegal tobacco products in recent raid, including 71,000 cigarettes.

According to a report from Expressandstar on April 26th, officers from the Trading Standards department of Staffordshire County Council in England recently confiscated illegal tobacco products with a retail value exceeding £50,000 during a search operation.

 

In this operation, the department seized over 71,000 illegal cigarettes and 50 kilograms of hand-rolled tobacco.

Belgium’s federal government on Thursday approved a ban on flavored vapes, allowing only tobacco-flavored and unflavored e-cigarettes on the market from September 2028. Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke said the measure is aimed at protecting the health of children and young people and preventing a new generation from becoming dependent on tobacco.

Israel’s Finance Ministry Advances New Tax Plan for Vapes, Tobacco Pouches and Nicotine Pouches
Israel’s Finance Ministry is advancing a new bill to tax e-cigarettes, tobacco pouches and nicotine pouches. According to the report, once approved by the Knesset Finance Committee, the initiative would only require the signature of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to take effect. Bangkok Port Customs on April 28 announced the seizure of 52,000 complete e-cigarettes, 100 gallons of e-liquid and 126,226 canisters of nitrous oxide, with total economic damage exceeding THB 27 million, or about USD 831,178 based on an April 28 USD/THB rate of 32.484. The e-cigarette and e-liquid shipment was valued at THB 5.56 million, or about USD 171,161, while the nitrous oxide shipment was valued at THB 21.27 million, or about USD 654,784.

FDA Expands ENDS Market Access With First Authorization of Non-Tobacco and Non-Menthol Products
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on May 5, 2026 that it authorized the marketing of four Glas electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) products through the premarket tobacco product application (PMTA) pathway.
