Store Fined £19,211 for Selling Illegal E-Cigarettes to Students
Barnsley store fined nearly £20k for selling illegal e-cigarettes to local students, prompting police crackdown on underage sales.

According to a recent report by ITV, a shop in Barnsley, England was fined nearly £20,000 for allegedly selling illegal e-cigarettes to local students.


An investigation has revealed suspicions of students vaping e-cigarettes inside the Market Hill Convenience Store in Barnsley. Police conducted tests after purchasing e-cigarettes from the store and found that they contained nicotine levels exceeding legal limits, as well as lacking proper labeling and health warnings.


In a further undercover operation, trainees from the South Yorkshire Police discovered that the store was willing to sell e-cigarettes to minors. Ultimately, the shop owner was fined a total of £19,211.55 for violations of smoking regulations. The police also seized illegal e-cigarettes worth £10,000 from the store.


Police Officer Richard Mangham stated: "Illegal items and unregulated products may pose serious health risks to individuals, especially young people. We all have a responsibility, so if you know of anyone or any store involved in counterfeit products, please report it.
