Teenager Suffers Severe Burns from E-Cigarette Explosion at Bus Stop
Turkish teenager severely burned after e-cigarette explosion at bus station, sparking warnings about the dangers of such devices.

According to reports from Haber 7 media, a 17-year-old teenager in Turkey suffered serious burns to his face and body when the e-cigarette he was holding suddenly exploded while waiting at a bus stop.

At a bus station in Turkey, 17-year-old Buğra Türkseven was shocked when the e-cigarette he was trying to use suddenly exploded. Nearby citizens quickly intervened to extinguish the flames after the explosion. Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after and rushed Türkseven to the hospital for treatment.

Dr. Gündüz Akgöl, a general surgeon at the hospital's emergency room, stated that a patient with burns on their face and body was urgently brought into the ER. Dr. Akgöl pointed out that...

Our patient has first-degree burns on the face and second-degree burns on both hands. Currently receiving treatment, on the third day, overall condition is good.

Dr. Akgar emphasized that those who believe e-cigarettes are harmless are sorely mistaken. E-cigarette explosions are typically caused by overheating batteries, posing serious health risks. He added that such incidents are not uncommon globally, with a reported case of a person in the United States dying from an explosion, and a patient in Konya, Turkey losing their eyesight due to a similar incident.

The victim, Brad Tassavine, described the horrifying moments he experienced.

When I brought the cigarette to my mouth, it exploded in my hand, burning my arms and face. I do not recommend anyone using e-cigarettes. I hope everyone avoids using them.

His grandmother, Semiha Türkseven, said:

What should be done if my grandson loses his eyesight? These e-cigarettes should be banned and confiscated.
