Turkish Police Intercepts Passenger Smuggling Cigarettes and E-Cigarettes
Turkish police intercept a bus and find smuggled cigarettes and e-cigarettes in a passenger's luggage, leading to legal action.

According to reports by the Turkish media outlet haberler, the Mus Police in Turkey have intercepted a bus and discovered smuggled cigarettes and e-cigarettes in a passenger's suitcase. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the individual.

 

According to the statement from the provincial governor, personnel from the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Division and the Drug Crime Division of the Provincial Police Bureau intercepted a passenger bus at a checkpoint yesterday. During the search, 100 packs of cigarettes and 100 e-cigarettes were found in the luggage of a passenger.

 

The passenger was taken action against for "opposition to Law No. 5607".

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit upheld the FDA’s denial of MH Global LLC’s applications to market flavored electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS). The court ruled that FDA’s comparative-efficacy framework, which requires applicants to show that flavored products provide greater cessation or switching benefits than tobacco-flavored alternatives, is consistent with the Tobacco Control Act’s “appropriate for the protection of the public health” standard. The court also found that FDA was not required to establish the framework through notice-and-comment rulemaking.

South Korean lawmaker Jeong Jin-wook has again called for stronger government action against liquid synthetic nicotine vape manufacturers and sellers, alleging that some businesses may have avoided regulation through product labeling changes and corporate restructuring. According to Newsworks, JNILBO and other Korean reports, Jeong has held his third press conference on the issue, calling for a government-wide investigation. China’s vape exports showed resilience in the first half of 2026 after a short-term shock from China’s export rebate adjustment. But customs data points to more than a simple recovery: the structure of growth is changing. Vaping devices and atomization hardware emerged as the strongest growth driver, while nicotine-containing vaping products remained broadly stable. Meanwhile, nicotine substitute-related products represented by 6-methyl nicotine expanded rapidly, becoming a new category to watch for both industry and regulators. After the U.S. market went through a cycle of shortages, replenishment and inventory rebuilding in 2025, China’s vape supply chain is entering a new phase of reallocation.
