Turkish Authorities Detain Suspects for Smuggling Phones and E-cigarettes
Turkish authorities detain 2 suspects after seizing 304 smuggled phones and 34 e-cigarettes in Van province.

According to Turkish news website haberler, Van province seized 304 smuggled mobile phones and 34 e-cigarettes, while also detaining two suspects.

 

The provincial security department has stated that they have been conducting ongoing anti-smuggling operations. During this operation, the anti-smuggling and anti-organized crime departments confirmed through a search of a vehicle that smuggled mobile phones and e-cigarettes are indeed illicit goods.

 

A judicial investigation has been launched into the two detained suspects.

Indonesia’s customs data show vape (REL) excise revenue reached Rp 2.84 trillion in 2025 (≈$170.4 million), up 7.38% year over year. The gain came even as overall tobacco excise revenue declined. Minimum retail price benchmarks (HJE) for vape products rose in 2025, while excise rates remained unchanged from 2024; open-system e-liquids accounted for the largest share of revenue.
