Turkish Police Seize 86 Smuggled E-Cigarettes and 96kg Waterpipe Tobacco

Turkish police seize 86 smuggled e-cigarettes and 96kg of water pipe tobacco in raid, arresting suspect involved.

According to Turkey's Anadolu Agency (IHA) on January 10, 2024, the Mersin police in Turkey seized 86 smuggled e-cigarettes and 96 kilograms of waterpipe tobacco during a search operation.

According to reports, during a crackdown on smuggling operations carried out by the local law enforcement police force, investigators discovered suspects believed to be involved in illicit tobacco trading in the Mezitli district. During a search of the suspects' residence, authorities seized 86 illicit e-cigarettes and 96 kilograms of water tobacco rolls.

The suspect has been arrested and taken to the police for questioning.

Complete Vape Prohibition Takes Effect Across Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan has enacted a nationwide ban on the sale and circulation of e-cigarettes and related vape liquids, following the approval of a new law signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The legislation introduces criminal liability for violations, with penalties including fines of 300 to 500 basic calculation units (approximately US$10,300–17,200), corrective labor for up to three years, or imprisonment for up to five years.

Japan Tobacco (JT) delivered a strong Q3 2025. Revenue rose 18.3% year over year to ¥947.2 billion, with adjusted operating profit up 27.8% to ¥279.0 billion (+20.8% at constant currency) and net profit up 29.7% to ¥176.7 billion.
