Turkish Police Seize Large Quantity of Smuggled Tobacco
In a strong crackdown on smuggling, Turkish police seize a large quantity of smuggled tobacco and equipment.

According to a report from Turkish media outlet dogruhaber on February 3rd, a strong crackdown on smuggling operations was carried out in the Izmirt district of the Kocaeli province in Turkey. The provincial police department seized a large quantity of hand-rolled cigarettes and smuggling tobacco equipment during the operation.

 

The police conducted a thorough search of three residences in this operation, resulting in the seizure of 180,000 counterfeit cigarettes, including 51,000 individually packaged shredded tobacco, and 400 kilograms of loose tobacco. In addition to this, they also successfully confiscated 50 e-cigarettes, 650 smuggled cigars without tax receipts, as well as two cigarette rolling machines and two compressors.

 

In the face of this large-scale tobacco smuggling case, the police have filed lawsuits against three suspects under the Anti-Smuggling Law and will proceed with judicial proceedings.
