Turkish Security Forces Detain Smugglers, Seize Contraband Valued at $150,000

Turkish military and police forces successfully detained two commercial venues involved in smuggling phones and e-cigarettes in Gaziantep, worth $150,000.

According to a report by Turkish media outlet medyatava on January 21, the Turkish military and police forces successfully detained two commercial establishments involved in smuggling mobile phones and e-cigarettes in the city of Gaziantep. The market value of these illegal items amounted to 1.2 million lira (approximately $150,000). Two suspects were apprehended during this operation.

Under the coordination of the Gaziantep Prosecutor's Office, the military and police forces have conducted targeted operations to combat smuggling activities. According to the results of technological surveillance, two commercial establishments in the Şehitkâmil district are suspected of engaging in smuggling. As a result of the operation, a total of 58 smuggled mobile phones and 37 e-cigarettes, with a combined value of 1.2 million Lira, were successfully seized. The two suspects, identified as I.M. and F.E., have been detained.

The two suspects will undergo legal proceedings. This successful operation highlights the Turkish authorities' commitment to combat smuggling activities.
