·The police in West Yorkshire, UK, have carried out joint raids on six illegal shops with the help of multiple departments.
·Seized large quantities of illegal e-cigarettes and cigarettes to prevent harm to public health.
·Illegal products containing high doses of nicotine have the potential to cause environmental pollution.
On September 15, 2025, British police in West Yorkshire, along with officials from the Trading Standards Agency, conducted surprise inspections at six stores in West Yorkshire and seized hundreds of illegal e-cigarettes and cigarettes. During the operation, law enforcement officers executed six search warrants in the Holme Valley and Denby Dale areas, confiscating 50 boxes of cigarettes and approximately 550 e-cigarettes.
Vanessa Briggs, Chief Inspector of West Yorkshire Police, emphasized the importance of reporting illegal sales of goods because these products may contain "dangerous levels of nicotine and other harmful substances," and fund "organized crime." She stated that seizing these items is to protect the public from the harm of unregulated and untested products.
Inspector Briggs also stated that this operation reduced pollution to the environment caused by disposable e-cigarettes through enforcing the ban. According to the police, illegal e-cigarettes typically contain higher levels of nicotine than legal products.
In a similar operation in July 2025, police in Huddersfield seized an estimated £67,000 (approximately $90,000) worth of e-cigarettes and cigarettes. In the operation, a total of 2,050 packs of cigarettes, 168 packs of 50g tobacco, and 2,634 e-cigarettes were confiscated.
