Anti-E-cigarette System Implemented in Russian St. Petersburg School
Russian school in St. Petersburg implements "anti-e-cigarette system" to curb smoking on campus, designed by graduates to improve hygiene.

A high school in St. Petersburg, Russia, has implemented an "anti-e-cigarette system" to deter students from smoking on campus. This system, designed by graduates of the school, is capable of detecting the vapor produced by e-cigarettes, with the aim of improving the school's hygiene environment.

 

This innovative measure has been introduced in response to a series of health issues and incidents caused by the use of e-cigarettes, with the aim of safeguarding the health and safety of students.

In a March 4 letter to the Treasury Secretary and the U.S. Trade Representative, they warned that unauthorized vape products pose risks related to national security, youth protection and organized crime. The signatories represent about one-third of House Republicans, highlighting growing congressional attention to illicit vape trade.

UK Bill Banning Tobacco Sales to People Born After 2008 Clears Parliament
A UK bill banning the legal sale of tobacco to people born on or after January 1, 2009 has completed its passage through parliament. Under the bill, those born in that group will never be able to be legally sold tobacco anywhere in the UK. The legislation is expected to receive royal assent next week. It also gives ministers powers to strengthen public-place smoking restrictions and restricts branding, promotion and advertising of vape and nicotine products aimed at children.

Japan’s transport ministry said on April 14 that major Japanese airlines reported 429 passenger smoking incidents on domestic and international flights in 2025, the highest level since comparable data collection began in 2004. Brazil’s Teen E-Cigarette Experimentation Rate Rises to 29.6% Over Five Years
Brazil’s National School Health Survey (PeNSE) 2024 found that e-cigarette experimentation among students aged 13 to 17 rose from 16.8% in 2019 to 29.6% in 2024, while use in the previous 30 days increased from 8.6% to 26.3%. Over the same period, conventional cigarette experimentation fell from 22.6% to 18.5%, and hookah use declined from 26.9% to 16.4%.
