Anti-E-cigarette System Implemented in Russian St. Petersburg School
Russian school in St. Petersburg implements "anti-e-cigarette system" to curb smoking on campus, designed by graduates to improve hygiene.

A high school in St. Petersburg, Russia, has implemented an "anti-e-cigarette system" to deter students from smoking on campus. This system, designed by graduates of the school, is capable of detecting the vapor produced by e-cigarettes, with the aim of improving the school's hygiene environment.

 

This innovative measure has been introduced in response to a series of health issues and incidents caused by the use of e-cigarettes, with the aim of safeguarding the health and safety of students.

Spain’s Nicotine Pouch Association said nicotine pouch sales in Spain reached 5 million cans of 20 units in 2025 and are expected to rise 60% to 8 million in 2026. The group said there are currently 20 to 30 brands on the Spanish market and called for regulation proportionate to product risk. It also opposed a proposal to reduce nicotine content to 0.99 mg per pouch, saying it would amount to a de facto ban on the category.

Lawmakers in the Philippines are pushing House Bill 5207 (HB 5207), which seeks to harmonize excise tax rates on vapor products and address disparities between nicotine salt and freebase nicotine taxation. The bill, supported by more than 40 lawmakers including Deputy Speaker Kristine Singson-Meehan, would raise taxes on freebase nicotine products to align them with nicotine salt rates.

BAT Japan announced it will support and sponsor the outdoor culture market “DIGGIN DEEP 2026 DAIKANYAMA,” held on March 7 and 8, 2026 at Daikanyama T-SITE, and will set up a special booth for the oral tobacco brand VELO at the venue. The booth will feature product displays and trial experiences, including the new product Velo Smooth Peppermint Medium, which went on sale on Feb. 2.
