Arrested Man Found Holding Illegal E-Cigarette Liquid with Drugs
A 23-year-old man in Saga City, Japan, was arrested for storing illegal e-cigarette liquid containing dangerous drugs.

According to Japanese media RKB, a 23-year-old male was arrested on January 10th for storing illegal e-cigarette liquid containing dangerous pharmaceutical ingredients in his home. The detected ingredients were classified as "specified drugs" by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in March last year.

A 23-year-old man residing in Tashiro, Saga City, is suspected of possessing a small quantity of restricted liquid at his residence. During an inquiry as a person of interest in another drug-related case, the man admitted to having the substance, prompting the police to conduct a search of his residence on December 14th of last year.

They discovered the "liquid" concealed in an e-cigarette cartridge. After examination, it was determined that this liquid contained dangerous drugs in violation of pharmaceutical regulations (commonly known as THC-O-acetate, THC acetate, Δ8-THC-O, THCO). It was classified as a "controlled substance," and the man was arrested in his home on the morning of the 10th.

When questioned, he stated that he "believes it to be a legal substance and possesses it" and denied the allegations. The police believe that the man obtained this liquid through a membership-based social media platform and used it to fill his e-cigarette. Testing during analysis revealed the presence of one of the hazardous substances that were designated as additional controlled drugs on March 20th of last year.

The drug is strictly prohibited for any purpose other than medical use, and the Ministry of Health strongly warns against its sale, purchase, importation, or any other use.
