Carreras Limited Launches Vuse Recycling Initiative to Combat Environmental Impact of E-Cigarettes
Carreras Limited launches Vuse recycling program to curb environmental impact of e-cigarettes in Jamaica, offering incentives for returns.

Tobacco trading company Carreras Limited has launched a new initiative aimed at curbing the environmental impact of e-cigarettes.

The company's latest initiative includes launching the Vuse recycling program, aimed at promoting the proper disposal or recycling of used e-cigarette devices and pods. Under this program, consumers are encouraged to return their empty Vuse devices to designated collection points in multiple parishes across Jamaica, including Kingston and St. Andrew, St. James, Trelawny, St. Catherine, Westmoreland, and St. Ann.

Carreras Managing Director Franklin Murillo emphasized the importance of preventing these items from ending up in landfills.

Muller also stated, "We are trying to incentivize customers by offering them a free device if they bring in three unused devices.

The Vuse recycling program is a free service provided by Carreras, aimed at promoting responsible disposal of e-cigarette products. Recycling e-cigarette materials not only helps reduce environmental impact but also prevents electronic waste from piling up in landfills. Many e-cigarette devices contain batteries and other components that, if not properly handled, could be harmful to the environment.

Carreras partners with INET Jamaica to facilitate the local electronic waste recycling efforts. INET safely dismantles each device and recycles its components, including the metal alloy casing, plastic heads (nozzles and bottom caps), lithium-ion batteries, pulp, stainless steel water pipes, and other parts (paper boxes, wires, LED lights).

The Vuse product is designed to attract and satisfy the preferences of a new generation of consumers, but the company emphasizes that it is important to ensure that the e-cigarette does not fall into the hands of minors.
