Convenience Store K&B Stripped of License for Illegal Tobacco

A convenience store in Leeds lost its license for selling illegal tobacco products, including fake and smuggled cigarettes.

According to the report by the Yorkshire Evening Post on May 9th, a convenience store named "K&B Store" had its business license revoked for possessing illegal tobacco products on the premises.

According to reports, during a hearing of the Leeds City Council licensing sub-committee, it was stated that the first visit to this shop located at 31C Harehills Road took place on January 19th. During this visit, trading standards officers purchased a pack of untaxed cigarettes for just £3.50. Subsequently, on January 24th, they conducted a check with West Yorkshire Police and found the items hidden within the door frame. The hearing took place on May 7th, where it was revealed that 117 packs of cigarettes and 10 packs of hand-rolled cigarettes had been seized. The meeting report also noted the discovery of 119 oversized e-cigarettes on the premises.

According to Babul Hussain, an illegal tobacco regulator, the store was selling disposable e-cigarettes containing e-liquid exceeding the legal limit.

His report pointed out, "Based on differences in certain cigarette packaging and other foreign tax receipts, it is clear that these cigarettes are a mixture of counterfeits and smuggled goods.
