Crackdown on Illegal Tobacco and Non-compliant e-cigarettes in Northamptonshire
Illegal tobacco and non-compliant e-cigarettes worth over £24,000 were seized in a crackdown in Northamptonshire, UK.

According to a report from Northantslive, the Trading Standards Agency in Northamptonshire, England has recently seized illegal tobacco and non-compliant e-cigarettes, worth over £24,000. This operation is part of an ongoing crackdown on the illegal import and sale of goods in Northamptonshire.


Last month, officials from the Trade Standards Bureau collaborated with the Northamptonshire County Council (NNC) and the Northamptonshire County Police to conduct inspections at four sites, resulting in the seizure of 111 packages of hand-rolled tobacco, 866 packages of cigarettes, and 1042 non-compliant e-cigarettes.


The total value of the confiscated goods ultimately amounted to £24,541, and this figure was calculated as the average resale value of various products. This includes e-cigarettes valued at £10,420, hand-rolled tobacco worth £3,729, and illegally imported cigarettes amounting to £10,392.


Tom Thompson, Chief Police Officer of Northamptonshire County Police, emphasized the success as a demonstration of the power of collaborative efforts, while also cautioning, "Organized gangs have been involved in various criminal activities, including the illegal distribution of cigarettes, tobacco, and e-cigarettes.
