According to a report by Newsandstar on January 10th, the issue of illegal e-cigarette sales in Cumberland County, UK, will be presented at a public meeting next week.
Tim Pickstone, a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Liberal Democrats in London, will raise questions during the Cumberland County Council meeting on January 16th. The MP plans to inquire about Bob Kelly, a Labour Party MP from Milom, who is responsible for the organization and regulation of policies in Cumberland.
He plans to ask Senator Kelly, "Can you inform the members about the number of prosecutions by the Cumberland Policy and Regulatory Services against illegal sales related to e-cigarettes in 2023, and what measures the agency will undertake against illegal sales in 2024?"
During a meeting in July, Congressman Kelly provided an update on the current situation regarding e-cigarettes. He revealed to fellow lawmakers that officials responsible for commercial standards had uncovered instances in which e-cigarette products were being sold to minors in Workinglington. Expressing concern at the time, he noted that illicit sales could potentially lead these young individuals to take up smoking in the future.
He added, "We must remain vigilant."
The parliamentary meeting on Tuesday will commence at the Carlisle City Hall at 1:00 pm.
