Hanoi Authorities Seize and Destroy 606 E-Cigarettes in Crackdown, Valued at $6,500
From early November until now, authorities in Hanoi have destroyed 606 e-cigarette products, with a total value of $6,500. The Vietnamese National Assembly has decided to implement a nationwide ban on the production, sale, import, and use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products starting in 2025.

Authorities in Hanoi, Vietnam are continuing to crack down on sales points suspected of smuggling e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, according to Anninhthudo reported on December 1st.

According to the Quality Management and Testing Department (QLTT), since early November, the agency has investigated 7 cases involving e-cigarettes, with a total fine of 11.25 billion Vietnamese dong ($4,500) imposed. Additionally, 606 disposable e-cigarettes and their accessories have been confiscated and destroyed, with a total value of over 16.6 billion Vietnamese dong ($6,500).

On November 13th, authorities conducted an inspection at a business and found 80 e-cigarette products being sold, including 50 disposable e-cigarette devices and 30 bottles of e-cigarette liquid. These products were all imported goods without documentation and were deemed to be smuggled items.

On the same day, another merchant was also found to have a similar situation and had 70 pieces of smuggled goods temporarily confiscated. These goods included 50 disposable e-cigarette devices and 20 bottles of e-cigarette liquid.

On the 14th, authorities continued their operations and seized a total of 420 units of e-cigarette products without proper documentation. All seized products were foreign-made and lacked proper documentation. The case is currently under further investigation and processing.

On November 30, the Vietnamese National Assembly decided to ban the production, sale, import, and use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products starting in 2025. (Read more: "Vietnam to Ban E-Cigarettes and Heated Tobacco Products Starting in 2025")
