Illegal Tobacco and E-Cigarettes Seized in Skagit Mini Market
Trade Standards Authority officials discovered 20,000 counterfeit "Lambert & Butler" cigarettes in a Skagnes mini-market, leading to further investigations.

According to a report by Lincsonline on August 21st, officials from the UK Trading Standards Agency discovered 20,000 counterfeit "Lambert & Butler" cigarettes, 3,800 foreign-labeled cigarettes, and 826 illegal oversized e-cigarettes at the mini market in Skagnes Roman Bank. Many of the products falsely claimed to be "nicotine-free".


According to Andy Wright, Chief Officer of the Trade Standards Bureau,


These cheap illegal products not only pose potential health risks to the public, but also harm the interests of law-abiding businesses in the local area. My department will investigate possible illegal activities and pursue criminal prosecution if warranted.


Last Wednesday, on August 14th, the community police team, immigration officials, and trade standards officials all participated in the joint raid operation.


This is the second illegal cigarette and e-cigarette bust at the Skægness mini-market following the seizure of 9,842 e-cigarettes in February.


According to records, the majority of confiscated cigarettes are counterfeit products.
