Major Bust: Massive Illegal E-cigarette Seizure in Liverpool City

Liverpool City Council's Public Protection team seized over 3500 illegal e-cigarettes worth £42,000, sending a clear message to retailers.

According to Liverpool Express on April 23rd, the Public Protection Team of Liverpool City Council seized a "warehouse quantity" of illegal e-cigarettes following a tip-off from a convenience store. In total, over 3500 e-cigarettes were seized with an estimated market value of around £42,000.

The City Council stated that the quantity seized in this operation was three times the amount seized in previous operations (1200 units). According to statistics, by 2024, Liverpool City has seized approximately 18,500 illegal e-cigarettes, estimated to have a total value exceeding £222,000.

The Director of Public Health at the City Council, Matt Ashton, stated that the seizure operation sent a "clear message" to other retailers.

Although genuine e-cigarette products still provide a viable option for those looking to quit smoking, it is advisable to always purchase them from reputable retailers.
