According to Free Malaysia Today on August 17th, Malaysian Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that the Public Health (Control and Regulation of Tobacco Products) Regulations 2024 (Act 852) is expected to be implemented in October.
Zoukifili stated that all regulations and orders under the bill have been approved by the Attorney General's Office.
We have entered the final stage. This October, if we are blessed by the heavens, we will implement four regulations and one order approved by the prosecutor general's office.
“We have postponed the execution once and hope to implement it in October. Although we initially hoped to start in September, if that is not feasible, October will be the target date.”
The bill was enacted on February 2, following royal approval on January 24, and aims to prohibit the sale and purchase of tobacco products, smoking materials, and tobacco alternatives to minors.
It also prohibits providing any smoking-related services to minors.
Currently, nicotine e-cigarette products are still legal for individuals under the age of 18 before the implementation of Bill 852.
