2Firsts, January 13, 2026 – According to Gork Hapatra Online, authorities in Nepal’s Mustang district seized e-cigarettes valued at NPR 22,459,320 (approximately US$150,000) in Lomanthang Rural Municipality-4, Nechung, and detained a man in connection with the shipment.
Shailendra Thapa, the Armed Police Force’s deputy spokesperson and a DSP, identified the detained individual as 32-year-old Pema Lama from Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-5 in Sindhupalchok district. The seizure involved a container truck with registration “Na 6 Kha 7591,” and the report says Lama was detained along with the container driver.
The account says 80 cartons of e-cigarettes were allegedly brought illegally from China three to four days earlier and loaded near the Korala Nepal–China border point before being intercepted.
A joint team led by the Armed Police Force Nepal border outpost in Nechung under Sub-Inspector Udaybahadur Kumal, together with the Mustang Customs Office, Nepal Police and local representatives, carried out the operation.
The seized e-cigarettes were handed over to the Mustang Customs Office. The detained individual was sent to the Chhoser area police office for necessary action. The report also says that because the container was damaged, tissue paper and toilet paper inside were sealed and kept by the customs office.
