Pennsylvania Traffic Officer Accused of Providing e-cigarette to Students
A traffic director in Pennsylvania charged with distributing e-cigarettes and suspected marijuana products to students sparks police intervention.

According to a report from CBS News on June 5th, a traffic coordinator in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, has come under police investigation for allegedly distributing e-cigarettes and suspected marijuana products to students.

Kiara Lee has been accused of providing e-cigarettes to students. Local authorities are urging families with information, especially if their children have had any interactions with the traffic director, to come forward.

According to a report from the local prosecutor's office in Delaware County, Lee was reportedly providing e-cigarettes to students near the intersection of North McDade Boulevard and Summit Street, which is approximately five blocks away from the school. Following a police investigation last month, a student who witnessed the incidents told school officials that they had seen Lee offering e-cigarettes to students at least three times.

A student who received an e-cigarette told authorities that they often used marijuana with Li. The guardian of the student who received the e-cigarette stated that Li also provided marijuana to their child.

According to official sources, text exchanges between the students and Li confirm that they did indeed consume edibles containing marijuana.

The district police chief, Joseph Gabe, stated in a press release:

Our dedicated team understands that protecting the children in our community is at the absolute core of our mission. While marijuana may seem harmless to some in the community, I believe we can all agree that passersby should not be offering drugs to our children - even if it's "just" marijuana.

According to the local prosecutor's office, as of Tuesday afternoon, Li has been detained and is awaiting a hearing. She is accused of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and enticing minors.

Australia’s One Nation Proposes 75% Tobacco Tax Cut, Says Lower Prices Could Hit Illicit Market
Australia’s One Nation party has proposed cutting tobacco excise by 75%, arguing that lower legal cigarette prices could narrow the gap with illicit tobacco and reduce demand for black-market products. The proposal comes as Australia continues expanding enforcement against illicit tobacco supply chains through border controls, retail inspections and organised-crime investigations. Supporters argue high taxes have contributed to illicit-market growth, while opponents warn that lower tobacco prices could undermine public-health goals. The proposal is a party policy position and has not been adopted by the Australian government.
