FDA Updates Import Alert Including Red List of E-Cigarettes
The FDA has updated import alerts, including a "red list" for e-cigarette products, giving Customs authority for seizure.

According to a statement from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the FDA has updated its import alert, which includes a "red list" of products that will authorize US Customs and Border Protection to detain potential aerosol products without the need for physical inspection.

 

A new alert allows for the addition of 13 new e-cigarette manufacturers and distributors (10 of which are from China). If the new tobacco products do not comply with the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to obtain the necessary marketing authorization, U.S. Customs and Border Protection will have the authority to seize their goods.
