FDA Updates Import Alert Including Red List of E-Cigarettes

The FDA has updated import alerts, including a "red list" for e-cigarette products, giving Customs authority for seizure.

According to a statement from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the FDA has updated its import alert, which includes a "red list" of products that will authorize US Customs and Border Protection to detain potential aerosol products without the need for physical inspection.

A new alert allows for the addition of 13 new e-cigarette manufacturers and distributors (10 of which are from China). If the new tobacco products do not comply with the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to obtain the necessary marketing authorization, U.S. Customs and Border Protection will have the authority to seize their goods.

62.5% of Vapers Still Use Disposables; 82% for Ages 25–34, Survey Finds

Vape retailer Haypp reports that 62.5% of vapers still use disposable vapes, rising to 82% among those aged 25–34. 35% of disposable users say they are still buying disposables. Black-market purchases reportedly come mainly from local smaller shops (55%) and specialist vape stores (37%), as well as supermarkets, online retailers and car boot sales. 78.5% of respondents are using pre-ban stock, posing safety risks from aging lithium-ion batteries; 14% plan to continue buying disposables,.

JT Q3 2025: Revenue +18%, Profit +30%; RRP Volume +40%; Guidance Up

Japan Tobacco (JT) delivered a strong Q3 2025. Revenue rose 18.3% year over year to ¥947.2 billion, with adjusted operating profit up 27.8% to ¥279.0 billion (+20.8% at constant currency) and net profit up 29.7% to ¥176.7 billion. Growth was led by reduced-risk products (RRP): total RRP volume climbed 40%, with heated tobacco (HTS) up 53%. In Japan, the launches of Ploom AURA and EVO pods pushed HTS category share to 15.5%, while the Ploom user base has nearly doubled versus two years ago.
