Revisions to Federal Law on Smokeless Tobacco Products in Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a federal law amending legislation on tobacco products to align with Eurasian Economic Union regulations.

According to a recent report from Kremlin.Ru, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a federal law amending certain legislation in the Russian Federation.

Federal regulations have been revised for the Federal Law on Tobacco Product Technical Regulations to align with the provisions of the Customs Union Tobacco Product Technical Regulations (TR CU 035/2014). This adjustment eliminates mandatory requirements for cigarettes and updates mandatory requirements for smokeless tobacco products.

In order to align the legal framework of the Russian Federation with the technical regulations and regulatory documents of the Eurasian Economic Union, this federal law will only establish requirements for smokeless tobacco products. Therefore, the name of this federal law will be changed to "Technical Regulations on Smokeless Tobacco Products".

This law also stipulates the procedures for identifying smokeless tobacco products, as well as the production and distribution process of these products within the Russian Federation (including requirements for ingredients and consumer information), and the procedures for evaluating whether these products meet established standards.

In addition, federal laws have also been amended to correspond to several federal laws.
