Russia Proposes Full Ban on E-Cigarettes to Protect Youth
Russian bill to ban all e-cigarettes, citing sharp increase in teen usage and health risks, introduced in parliament.

According to a report by the Russian news agency TASS on May 31, a comprehensive e-cigarette sales ban bill was submitted to the State Duma on the same day. The bill will completely prohibit the retail sale of e-cigarettes in Russia, whether they contain nicotine or not.

 

According to data, by early 2023, the number of teenagers in Russia using e-cigarettes has increased tenfold since 2011. The initiators of the bill pointed out that although there are some restrictions in Russia's e-cigarette industry, such as banning sales to minors, prohibiting the addition of flavors and other additives in products, banning the public display and sale of nicotine devices, and remote sales, they stated that these bans are "easily circumvented and minors can still buy e-cigarettes.

This phenomenon (the use of e-cigarettes) is taking a toll on our citizens, especially our children's health. The level of harm is significant. Almost every day, we can see tragic events related to e-cigarettes in the news, particularly those involving underage use of e-cigarettes.
