Crackdown on Illegal Sale of Water Pipes and E-Cigarettes in Ukraine
Recently, according to the State Economic Security Bureau (BEB) of Ukraine, with the assistance of the Ukrainian National Border Service, the agency successfully uncovered a case of illegal production and sale of hookah and e-cigarettes in the Donetsk region. The seized tobacco products have an estimated market value of 120 million hryvnias (approximately 24.15 million Chinese yuan).
The Ukrainian Economic Security Bureau has revealed that criminal gangs are illegally producing and selling popular branded shisha tobacco. These illicit activities involve the use of well-established sales networks, such as the internet.
Law enforcement officers conducted searches simultaneously at 13 production, warehouse, and sales locations, resulting in the seizure of over 200,000 shisha tobacco products, various disposable e-cigarettes, approximately 8 tons of shisha liquid, over 14,000 units of e-cigarette liquid, and more than 250 barrels of shisha mixtures, all of which were illegal goods.
According to preliminary investigations, the total value of seized tobacco products exceeded 120 million Grivna (equivalent to approximately 24.15 million Chinese Yuan).
