According to Khaosod, the Thailand Consumer Protection Crime Suppression Command arrested a 31-year-old man in Bang Bong Tong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. They seized 17,320 disposable e-cigarettes and a grey pickup truck, with a total value of over 7 million Thai Baht (approximately $22,330 USD).

Law enforcement officials received information in advance that a group was planning to transport a large quantity of e-cigarettes in a closed-body pickup truck from the northeastern region of Thailand to deliver to customers in the central region of Thailand.

Law enforcement officers along the possible route to patrol, track down suspicious vehicles to the above location, and identify themselves to conduct a search. A large number of brown boxes were found stacked in the vehicle compartment, and upon inspection, a large quantity of e-cigarettes were discovered, which were then lawfully confiscated.

According to the report, the suspect confessed to being hired to transport e-cigarettes from Khon Kaen in Thailand to Bang Bo Tong County to deliver to a customer, for a payment of 3,800 Thai Baht (approximately $121), but was intercepted during the journey.

Law enforcement officers have charged the suspect with aiding in concealing, assisting in selling, or in any other way possessing goods that they knew were customs items evading taxes. The related charges carry a maximum sentence of up to 5 years of imprisonment or a fine equivalent to four times the value of the taxed goods, or both.

The suspects and related items have been transferred to the relevant investigative unit for further processing, and efforts are being made to track down other individuals involved in the case, such as the "financiers.
