Turkey Seizes 16,500 Illegal E-Cigarettes in Smuggling Crackdown
Turkish authorities recently confiscated 16,500 illegal e-cigarettes and arrested a truck driver suspected of smuggling the products.

According to Alternatif Gazetesi, on December 3rd, the Turkish Ministry of Trade, Customs, and Smuggling and Intelligence Agency found 16,500 illegal e-cigarettes inside a scrapped truck at the Edirnekapı border gate in Edirne province.

 

The truck driver attempted to avoid detection by swapping license plates with a truck of the same brand and model, but this action was captured by the on-site security cameras.

After an X-ray examination, officials discovered that 16,500 illegal e-cigarettes were hidden inside the abandoned vehicles.

 

Authorities stated that the two drivers of the trucks have been arrested, with one of them being formally detained.
