Turkish police seize $700,000 illegal e-cigarettes at border crossing
Turkish police seize illegal e-cigarettes worth 24 million lira at the Edirne border crossing.

According to reports from Haberler on October 14th, Turkish police intercepted illegal e-cigarettes worth 24 million lira (700,000 US dollars) at the Hamzabeyli customs border in Edirne.


Authorities identified two trucks with suspicious signs that were about to enter Turkey through risk analysis and target identification work. They immediately conducted X-ray scans for the trucks. The scan results showed suspicious high-density areas, prompting the relevant personnel to conduct a detailed inspection.


During a further search of the truck, apart from the goods declared as automotive parts, law enforcement officers discovered 24,000 smuggled e-cigarettes. The market value of these e-cigarettes is up to 24 million lira ($70,000), and they have been confiscated.
