According to a report by Businesswire on December 31st, the U.S. online nicotine pouch retailers Nicokick and Northerner collaborated to release the "2024 Nicotine Pouch Report," which analyzed survey data from approximately 2,000 American adult consumers in depth. The survey revealed that 80% of nicotine pouch users stated that they switched to nicotine pouches to quit smoking or improve their lifestyle, and 48% of respondents indicated that eliminating secondhand smoke was an important factor in their decision to use nicotine pouches.
The report's findings show that nearly 92% of users experienced improved health conditions after switching from cigarettes to nicotine pouches. 83% of people are opposed to flavor bans, with 71% of consumers stating that the introduction of new flavors does not affect their overall purchase of nicotine pouches, while 52% believe that flavor bans will encourage the use of more harmful nicotine products for health.
The survey respondents also indicated that their purchasing behavior is shifting towards online platforms due to convenience, competitive pricing, and a wider selection of products compared to physical stores. The survey revealed that 81% of nicotine pouch purchases are made online, with nearly two-thirds (62%) of users aged 65 and older purchasing nicotine pouches online, compared to 45% of all users. Nearly a third of pouch users (28%) stated that they plan to purchase more nicotine products online in the future.
In addition, mint is the most popular flavor category, occupying 59% of the best-selling list. Price, flavor, and nicotine strength are the main driving factors in purchasing decisions.
