According to a report by Slrmag, the UK Vape Club has released a "2026 Illegal E-cigarette and Nicotine Product Report," which states that in the UK in 2025, approximately 1.3 million illegal e-cigarettes were seized, with an estimated street value of around £10 million (approximately $12.6 million).
Over the past three years, British authorities have seized nearly 5 million illegal e-cigarettes, equivalent to an average of three seized per minute. It is estimated that these devices are worth approximately £39 million (approximately $49.1 million) on the black market.
The report also showed that the Central Bedfordshire Council seized the highest number of illegal e-cigarettes in 2025, reaching 345,718, which is approximately three times higher than the previous year.
In the past three years, a total of 511,877 illegal e-cigarettes have been seized in the region. A report suggests that nearby Luton Airport may be a target for the illegal importation of e-cigarettes.
Vape Club director Dan Marchant stated that effective steps should be taken in upcoming regulatory measures to address the issue of illegal e-cigarettes and prevent products that may pose safety risks from being sold in the UK market.
He also mentioned that the industry has long called for the establishment of a licensing system for e-cigarette retailers and distributors in order to give trade standard departments greater enforcement power and resources, thereby more effectively enforcing relevant laws nationwide.
