Wyoming Teacher Suspended for Providing Students with E-Cigarettes and Marijuana Gummies
According to WNEP, a female teacher in Wyoming was suspended for allegedly providing e-cigarettes and cannabis gummies to students.

In recent days, according to WNEP, a female teacher in Wyoming County has been suspended for providing nicotine e-cigarettes and cannabis gummies to students on campus.

 

Sarah Kester, a 34-year-old female teacher, has been formally charged with corrupting minors and is currently suspended from her job with pay. Kester has been released on $7,500 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at the Luzerne County Central Court on January 23rd.

 

According to authorities, it has been revealed that Kester provided a group of students with gummy candies laced with Delta-8 THC, which is a cannabis product. The intoxicating effects of Delta-8 THC, as stated by the FDA, are similar to the brain-active chemical compound Delta-9 THC found in marijuana. Additionally, Kester also supplied these students with nicotine e-cigarettes and encouraged them to egg her ex-boyfriend's house, but the students refused.

 

Kester's lawyer stated that although she has been temporarily suspended, she is still receiving her salary.

 

The school district in Wyoming has released a statement announcing the initiation of an investigation into this matter. We express deep regret for the students and community impacted and offer psychological counseling services to the affected students. We encourage everyone to report any additional information about this incident to the local authorities.

U.S. Ninth Circuit Upholds FDA Denial of MH Global’s Flavored Vape PMTA Applications
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit upheld the FDA’s denial of MH Global LLC’s applications to market flavored electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS). The court ruled that FDA’s comparative-efficacy framework, which requires applicants to show that flavored products provide greater cessation or switching benefits than tobacco-flavored alternatives, is consistent with the Tobacco Control Act’s “appropriate for the protection of the public health” standard. The court also found that FDA was not required to establish the framework through notice-and-comment rulemaking.

JUUL2 Sued Within a Week of FDA Authorization as AJ Marketing Alleges Infringement of Programmable Vape Patent
Less than a week after JUUL2 received U.S. FDA marketing authorization on August 28, 2026, JUUL Labs was sued for patent infringement in federal court in Delaware. AJ Marketing LLC filed the complaint on September 3, alleging that both JUUL 1 and JUUL2 infringe U.S. Patent No. 8,851,068 B2. The patent covers aspects of programmable electronic vaporization devices, including controls over dose delivery, usage frequency and operating parameters. The plaintiff is seeking reasonable royalties and ongoing royalties tied to the remaining life of the patent. JUUL has not yet publicly responded to the case.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized 11 ZYN ULTRA nicotine pouch products made by Swedish Match USA through the premarket tobacco product application pathway on August 21, 2026. Ten of the authorized products have a labeled nicotine content of 9 mg, while ZYN ULTRA Smooth was authorized at 11 mg. The reviews were conducted through FDA’s nicotine pouch PMTA pilot program. FDA has now authorized 43 nicotine pouch products, including 23 through the pilot.

Australia-China Operation Dismantles Tobacco Smuggling Network: 112 Containers, 60 Arrests and A$92 Million in Illicit Tobacco
According to The Maritime Executive on August 19, 2026, the Australian Border Force (ABF) and China’s Anti-Smuggling Bureau of General Administration of China Customs worked together to dismantle an international illicit tobacco smuggling network targeting Australia. According to information released by ABF on August 20, sustained information sharing and cooperation led to investigations into 112 shipping containers, with 91 found to contain illicit tobacco. Authorities seized more than 60 million cigarettes and 60 kilograms of loose-leaf tobacco, representing more than A$92 million in unpaid duties. More than 60 people suspected of involvement in the network were arrested in China.
