Arrested Teen Selling Illegal E-cigarettes on Social Media
A 19-year-old Brazilian youth was arrested for illegally selling e-cigarettes through social media in Taubaté.

In recent news, according to the report by the Sao Jose dos Campos Television Station in Brazil, a 19-year-old individual was arrested by the local Federal Police for illegally selling e-cigarettes through social media in the Taubate region.


A recent investigation by PF has revealed that he has been promoting e-cigarettes on social media and arranging sales through messaging apps, followed by delivering the products to targeted locations. The police recently conducted a search and seizure operation in the Villa San Gerardo community where the suspect resides, as authorized by the city's First Federal Court.


At the scene, the company discovered multiple e-cigarette devices, e-liquids, and device chargers, which were subsequently seized. Selling this product in Brazil is deemed a criminal offense according to a resolution by Anvisa in 2009. Consequently, the young man has been arrested for smuggling and could potentially face a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment.

As FDA Reshapes PMTA Reviews and ENDS Enforcement Priorities, CTP Acting Director Bret Koplow to Keynote NATO Event for a Retail Network of 66,000-Plus Stores
Bret Koplow, acting director of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Tobacco Products, will deliver a keynote and participate in a fireside chat at the National Association of Tobacco Outlets' Sept. 29-30 conference in Washington. His appearance comes months after the FDA moved to accelerate PMTA reviews and introduced a more differentiated enforcement policy for certain unauthorized ENDS and oral nicotine pouch products. The agency also plans a public list identifying manufacturers and products it does not currently intend to prioritize for enforcement under the May guidance. NATO says its membership includes more than 66,000 retail stores, making product-status transparency and enforcement boundaries directly relevant to the retail sector.

China’s Jiangsu Tobacco Monopoly Bureau and Jiangsu Provincial Medical Products Administration have issued a joint notice targeting illegal production and sales of vape products disguised as medical devices. Spanish newspaper El Confidencial interviewed Fred Monteiro, Regional Director for Americas and Europe at British American Tobacco (BAT). Monteiro said BAT supports setting regulatory limits for nicotine products but opposes Spain’s proposed 0.99mg nicotine-per-pouch limit, arguing that such a restriction could affect adult smokers’ transition to alternatives. He said nicotine regulation should be based on scientific evidence and harm reduction principles. Monteiro also said smoke-free products now account for around 25% of BAT’s Americas and Europe business and nearly 30% of its Europe business
