Brazil Implements Ban on E-cigarettes and Offers Free Treatment
Brazil bans production, import, sale, distribution, storage, transport, and advertising of e-cigarettes. Free treatment plans provided by national health system.

According to a report by Bonde on April 29, the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has implemented a ban on the production, importation, sale, distribution, storage, transportation, and promotion of e-cigarettes.

In order to comply with this ban, Rejane Cristina, head of the smoking control division at the Ministry of Health, emphasized that the Brazilian National Health System (SUS) will provide free treatment programs utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, support materials, and when appropriate, Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) medication including patches, gum, and non-nicotine treatments such as bupropion.

There are treatment methods available, but people need to understand that they have a chemical dependence. We understand the difficulty of seeking treatment, but quitting smoking at any time will bring benefits.
