Brazilian Federal Tax Bureau Seizes Batch of Hidden E-cigarettes
Brazilian Federal Revenue Bureau (RFB) intercepted a batch of smuggled e-cigarettes hidden in a car on the Friendship Bridge.

According to a report by H2FOZ on December 19th, the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service (RFB) seized a shipment of e-cigarettes hidden in a false bottom of a car during a routine inspection on the international Friendship Bridge between Iguazu and Estet cities.

 

The vehicle was intercepted by customs upon entering Brazil. During the inspection, around 880 e-cigarettes were found concealed in the rear portion of the vehicle, with an estimated value of 25,000 Brazilian reais. The driver was arrested on the spot, and it was discovered that he was a repeat offender. According to the Federal Revenue Office, "This Paraguayan national had previously been arrested for smuggling e-cigarettes.

As FDA Reshapes PMTA Reviews and ENDS Enforcement Priorities, CTP Acting Director Bret Koplow to Keynote NATO Event for a Retail Network of 66,000-Plus Stores
Bret Koplow, acting director of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Tobacco Products, will deliver a keynote and participate in a fireside chat at the National Association of Tobacco Outlets' Sept. 29-30 conference in Washington. His appearance comes months after the FDA moved to accelerate PMTA reviews and introduced a more differentiated enforcement policy for certain unauthorized ENDS and oral nicotine pouch products. The agency also plans a public list identifying manufacturers and products it does not currently intend to prioritize for enforcement under the May guidance. NATO says its membership includes more than 66,000 retail stores, making product-status transparency and enforcement boundaries directly relevant to the retail sector.

Charlie’s Holdings said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration notified the company on June 23, 2026, that 30 PACHA vape SKUs with submitted PMTAs had been tentatively identified for inclusion on a planned public-facing FDA webpage. Under enforcement guidance issued by FDA in May, the webpage is intended to identify certain unauthorized products for which the agency generally does not intend to prioritize enforcement of premarket authorization requirements. Charlie’s disclosed the development alongside second-quarter revenue of $3.8 million, up 116% year over year.

The pilot program would examine products including vapes, nicotine pouches and heated tobacco products, primarily among active-duty service members who continue using combustible tobacco. Iowa has begun enforcing its vape registry law, requiring vape products to be registered before they can be legally sold in the state. The move follows a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit to lift an injunction that had blocked enforcement. Retailers have warned that tighter product availability rules could increase pressure on vape shops. One Iowa retailer said that if only a limited number of products remain available, many stores could face significant business challenges.
