Brisbane Tops List for Illegal E-Cigarettes in Australia
Brisbane tops Australia in illegal e-cigarette numbers, with over 13,000 seized at port since January 1, 2024.

According to data from the Australian Border Force, Brisbane has become the city with the highest number of illegal e-cigarettes in Australia, as reported by Sky News on December 26th.


Since January 1, 2024, Australian authorities have seized over 6 million e-cigarette devices and accessories nationwide.


More than 130,000 e-cigarettes were intercepted at the port of Brisbane.

South Korean lawmaker Jeong Jin-wook has again called for stronger government action against liquid synthetic nicotine vape manufacturers and sellers, alleging that some businesses may have avoided regulation through product labeling changes and corporate restructuring. According to Newsworks, JNILBO and other Korean reports, Jeong has held his third press conference on the issue, calling for a government-wide investigation. The dispute involves whether synthetic nicotine products should fall under tobacco regulations, tax implications and supply-chain transparency. One year after the UK disposable vape ban came into force, local authorities continue to seize illegal and non-compliant vaping products. FOI data compiled by nicotine retailer Northerner shows more than 1.3 million products were seized between June 2025 and May 2026, with Bolton recording the highest number of seizures and Swansea reporting the highest estimated value.
