Local police released a statement on Saturday (26) saying the e-cigarettes were discovered in a warehouse in Melbourne's eastern suburbs after receiving a report of a commercial theft.

Police said a burglary occurred at a warehouse on Middleborough Road in Box Hill South in the early hours of Thursday (24) morning. Upon arrival at the scene, police found more than 1,000 boxes of illegal e-cigarettes with an estimated total value of approximately AUD 8 million. The products seized included the IGET brand of e-cigarettes.

Following the discovery of the illegal e-cigarettes, police contacted the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), which is overseeing the investigation. Video footage of the raid shows police using a forklift truck to remove pallets labelled 'Apple Grape Ice' and 'Cherry Pomegranate' from the warehouse.
