Couple Intercepted at Friendship Bridge with 1900 E-Cigarettes
Couple intercepted with $80,000 worth of e-cigarettes on Friendship Bridge, sparking investigation into tobacco smuggling.

Recently, according to a report by the media outlet H2FOZ, a couple was intercepted by the police at the Friendship Bridge while carrying e-cigarettes worth 80,000 Brazilian Reals. A total of 1,900 e-cigarettes were seized. The arrested woman claimed that she had intended to go shopping at the Iguaçu Falls in Foz do Iguaçu.

 

In response, the police believe this explanation is clearly false and have launched an in-depth investigation into the direction of tobacco smuggling.

Philip Morris International (PMI) has launched a regional pilot of bonds by IQOS and dedicated blends tobacco sticks in Japan, introducing a new heated tobacco platform separate from the IQOS ILUMA ecosystem. The system uses Round Heat Technology with an external heating architecture, differentiating it from IQOS ILUMA’s induction-based platform. The FDA has proposed a rule requiring foreign tobacco manufacturers to register facilities and list products before exporting to the U.S. If finalized, the rule could affect overseas OEM/ODM factories, contract manufacturers, specification developers, bulk product makers, and repackaging or relabeling firms. FDA says the proposal would help identify unauthorized imported tobacco products, including e-cigarettes.
