Brazilian health department in Cascavel city, Parana state, launches anti-e-cigarette campaign "Pod, Não Pode," enforcing nationwide ban on e-cigarette.

The Brazilian media outlet Oparana reported on May 8th that the health department of Cascavel, Parana State, Brazil will be conducting an anti-e-cigarette event called "Pod, Não Pode" from May 13th to 17th. According to the health department's resolution, the manufacturing, importation, sale, distribution, storage, transportation, and advertising of e-cigarettes are all prohibited in Brazil.

 

The event is aimed at providing guidance on the dangers of e-cigarettes and prohibiting their use. Regulatory authorities will distribute educational materials to teenagers at schools and other locations, with a focus on reaching merchants, who will be the main target audience. They will also promote the campaign through WhatsApp and social media.

 

Although it is a guided activity, if any violations are found, the department will penalize the violators with fines ranging from 500 Brazilian reals ($98.21) to 50,000 Brazilian reals ($9821.44).

 

For violators, the department will draft a notice of violation, initiate health administrative procedures, and have the authority to conduct hearings.
