Evanston City, Illinois, Implements Ban on Sale of Flavored Tobacco
Evanston, Illinois to prohibit sales of flavored tobacco products starting April 1 to protect public from predatory market tactics.

According to a report by the American media outlet Fox32Chicago yesterday, the city of Evanston in Illinois will implement a city-wide ban on the sale of flavored tobacco products starting on April 1st.

 

This move is seen by officials as a key step in protecting the public from the predatory market practices of the tobacco industry. All products containing tobacco flavors are included in this ban list, such as cigarettes, cigars, stick e-cigarettes, loose tobacco, rolling papers, and so on.

 

Individuals who violate the ban will be fined and may have their tobacco retail license revoked.

China Discloses First Criminal Case Over Counterfeit Vapes Disguised as “Medical Nebulizers” and “Zero-Nicotine” Products
Chinese authorities have disclosed the country’s first reported criminal case involving counterfeit vapes marketed as “medical nebulizers” and “zero-nicotine” products. Authorities determined that the products involved were counterfeit vapes and pursued criminal charges for producing and selling counterfeit goods. According to the report, the case resulted in the seizure of 347,000 counterfeit vape pods and 53,700 vape devices, with physical goods valued at 22.13 million yuan.

Red Dot’s product pages describe glo Hilo Plus as a two-part tobacco heater with a pen and charging case, plus a touch-sensitive AMOLED display. Vuse Pro One Box is described as a rechargeable e-cigarette with replaceable pods, USB-C charging and a switchable VapourBoost mode. The UAE Ministry of Finance will introduce a minimum excise price for e-liquids used in vaping and electronic smoking devices from September 1, 2026. The minimum excise price will be set at AED 1 per millilitre. The existing 100% excise tax rate will continue to apply to tobacco and electronic smoking products. The measure changes the minimum taxable base rather than the tax rate, with the UAE government saying it aims to establish unified tax standards, improve market compliance and prevent pricing loopholes.
