Flavor Enhancers Bypassing French Ban Raise Concerns

According to reports from French media, the e-cigarette industry has recently been exposed for engaging in a potentially risky market practice by circumventing the ban on flavored vaping products through the sale of so-called "flavor enhancers". According to Mathieu Morissette, a researcher at the Quebec University Heart and Lung Research Institute, the sale of these flavor enhancers involves circumventing regulations. The e-cigarette industry has successfully bypassed the regulations banning the direct sale of flavored e-cigarette products by selling unflavored base liquids and providing additional flavor enhancers.

During an interview with host Paul Arcand, Morissette pointed out that the motive behind this action could potentially be the tobacco industry's attempt to attract new users.

The industry's such circumvention of regulations may have profound implications for public health, and it has already garnered widespread concern among young people.

On December 11, 2025, Vietnam’s National Assembly passed the amended Investment Law, officially banning investment and business activities related to e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products.
