According to a report by WBOC on July 1st, a new amendment to the "Indoor Clean Air Act" in Maryland, USA has officially come into effect today, banning the use of e-cigarettes in all indoor public places and workplaces.
The Indoor Clean Air Act was first passed in 2007, initially banning smoking in public indoor spaces, in order to "protect and improve the health, comfort, and environment of the people of Maryland by limiting exposure to environmental tobacco smoke.
Starting from July 1, 2024, the law will include e-cigarettes.
Earlier, Maryland passed an amendment during the 2024 legislative session.
According to regulations set by the Maryland Department of Health, smoking or consuming tobacco, marijuana, or marijuana products is prohibited in indoor areas open to the public. Specifically:
