According to a report by GQ magazine on April 23, Japan Tobacco International's (JTI) heated tobacco device Ploom X Advanced has officially entered the Spanish market.
The Ploom X Advanced utilizes HeatFlow technology, allowing it to charge fully within 90 minutes and providing 23 uses. It is equipped with LED lights that indicate session or battery status. The device is launched alongside compatible tobacco sticks from Camel, offering 6 different tobacco blends and strength options.
The Ploom X Advanced will be available for purchase starting in April at select retail locations in Madrid and the Canary Islands, as well as on the Ploom.es website.
Ploom will begin its international expansion in 2022 across 14 countries worldwide. In Spain, heated tobacco products account for 2.7% of total tobacco sales, with larger cities like Madrid seeing this proportion reach over 5%.
Guilherme Silva, CEO of Japan Tobacco International (JTI) in Spain, stated, "The introduction of Ploom to the Spanish market signifies our commitment to innovation and providing high-quality tobacco alternatives to meet the evolving tastes of adult smokers."
It is estimated that by the end of 2024, Ploom will cover 80% of the global heated tobacco market. To achieve this, the group plans to invest over 1.82 billion euros between 2023 and 2025 in business expenses, research and development, and capital expenditures.
