IQOS Iluma cartridges to feature support messages as Philip Morris highlights vulnerable groups
PMI has announced plans to add support messages for at-risk families to the packaging of TEREA, Marlboro and other brands to raise awareness among economically disadvantaged households. The initiative, part of PMI's collaboration with South Korea's Ministry of the Interior and Safety, will be rolled out across all 50 product lines from January next year.

Philip Morris International (PMI) Korea announced that it will print advertisements for at-risk family support on the packaging of its flagship products, including TEREA and Marlboro cigarettes, according to an N.News report on 28 October. This initiative will be gradually implemented in convenience stores nationwide.

The aim of the campaign is to inform families in financial difficulty that they can contact the Health and Welfare Consultation Centre (129) or their local government office for comprehensive counselling, emergency welfare support and assistance with essential goods. From January next year, the company plans to apply this message to all 50 of its products.

This is one of the outcomes of the 'Identifying and Supporting Families at Risk' agreement that PMI signed with the Ministry of the Interior in July. The slogan will be applied to four products, including the exclusive IQOS Iluma Pod, TEREA Purple Wave, TEREA Blue and Marlboro Gold and Marlboro Red.

The South Korean PMI representative said: "It is very meaningful to be able to use our products to eliminate welfare blind spots and raise society's awareness of families in crisis. As a member of corporate citizenship, we will strive to focus on and contribute to those in need".

JTI Research Finds 31% of UK Respondents Offered Illicit Tobacco, While 63% of Ennis Packs Lack Duty Marks
Multiple JTI-backed studies in the UK and Ireland indicate that illicit tobacco remains visible across consumer interactions and local markets. In the UK, JTI research found that 31% of respondents said they had been offered illicit tobacco products. In Ireland’s Ennis area, a JTI-commissioned empty pack survey found that 63% of sampled cigarette packs did not carry Irish duty-paid markings. The findings come from industry research rather than official government estimates of illicit tobacco market size, but highlight continued concerns among regulators, legitimate retailers and tobacco companies over illicit trade.

Special Report | Russia, Ukraine and Belarus Launch Fresh Push to Rein in Vaping
Russia, Ukraine and Belarus are tightening vape regulation through different tools, from Ukraine’s stronger enforcement push and Belarus’s proposed advertising restrictions to Russia’s new GOST standard and regional sales-ban mechanism. As black-market concerns persist, some Russian experts argue that China’s tightly controlled but legalised model — built around licensing, traceability and taxation — may offer a more effective alternative to blanket prohibition.
