PMI Launches IQOS Iluma in UK
With the attractive pricing and technological advantages of IQOS Iluma, PMI aims to achieve growth in the heated tobacco sector in the UK

According to talkingretail, Philip Morris International has launched the heated tobacco device IQOS Iluma in the UK.

 

The series includes three devices, namely Iluma One, Iluma, and Iluma Prime. Iluma One is priced at £39 (USD 49.80), Iluma at £69 (USD 88.11), and Iluma Prime at £109 (USD 139.18).

 

Christian Woolfenden, Managing Director of Philip Morris International in the UK and Ireland, said, "Globally, the market for heated tobacco products is on the rise, with IQOS from Philip Morris International in Switzerland having helped millions of people around the world move away from traditional cigarettes. In the UK, the heated tobacco segment has grown an astonishing 400% in the past three years."

 

The spokesperson also stated that with the attractive pricing and technological advantages of IQOS Iluma, the company aims to achieve growth in the heated tobacco sector in the UK.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on March 9 released a draft guidance outlining its current thinking on premarket tobacco product applications (PMTAs) for flavored electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS). The document reiterates that fruit, candy, dessert, and other sweet-flavored e-cigarettes present a “significant public health risk” to youth and therefore face a higher evidentiary burden if manufacturers seek marketing authorization.

Cross-Party Romanian Lawmakers Propose Ban on E-Cigarettes and Heated Tobacco Use in All Enclosed Public Spaces
Lawmakers from Romania’s USR, PSD and PNL have submitted a bill that would ban e-cigarettes, vapes and heated tobacco devices in all enclosed public spaces. The proposal would redefine “smoking” so that inhaling aerosols produced by heating or vaporizing products containing tobacco, nicotine or other substances intended for inhalation would also be considered smoking, except for medical-use products.

Russia is preparing changes to its e-cigarette state standard GOST R 58109–2018. Japan’s transport ministry said on April 14 that major Japanese airlines reported 429 passenger smoking incidents on domestic and international flights in 2025, the highest level since comparable data collection began in 2004. The government said the spread of heated tobacco products and e-cigarettes was an important factor behind the increase. Japan plans to work with airlines to raise public awareness of fire risks on aircraft.
