Interception of Illegal Cigarettes Smuggled from Singapore
Indonesian marine patrol successfully seizes 62.5 million illegal cigarettes smuggled from Singapore to the Riau Islands.

According to Batampos, the Indonesian Marine Patrol Team of the Sorat Detachment has successfully intercepted a shipment of illegal cigarettes smuggled from Singapore. These cigarettes were intended to be smuggled to the Liao-ne Islands. According to Ardhan, the Public Relations Officer of the Kanwil DJBC, on Tuesday (November 28th), these illegal cigarettes varied in quantity and brand, totaling 625 boxes or approximately 62.5 million illegal cigarettes.

Thailand’s latest national health survey shows a sharp increase in e-cigarette use among people under 30, particularly among female adolescents. Researchers found that vaping has not reduced overall tobacco harm and has instead driven growth in new nicotine users, with younger ages of initiation. Wales Passes Law Banning Tobacco Sales to Anyone Born After 2009
The Welsh Parliament (Senedd) has approved new legislation banning tobacco sales to anyone born on or after January 1, 2009. The law, passed on December 9, 2025, also imposes stricter controls on how vapes and nicotine products are advertised and sold. Designed by the UK Government but voted on separately in Wales, the bill passed with 36 votes in favor, two abstentions, and nine against. It grants stronger enforcement powers to Trading Standards to combat illegal tobacco and vape sales.
