Thai Authorities Bust Illegal e-Cigarette Store in Surat Thani

Thai authorities cracked down on illegal e-cigarette sales in Suphan Buri, seizing over 1000 items and arresting three suspects.

According to the Daily News on October 12th, a drug and social order inspection team in Thailand's Suphan Buri province recently successfully raided an illegal shop selling e-cigarettes.

The department sent undercover agents to conduct a sting operation at a store that appears to be selling clothes. It is understood that the store is secretly selling e-cigarettes. The store's salesperson is a young man, and after the undercover agents presented evidence of solicitation, inspectors immediately conducted a surprise search.

Inspectors seized over 1000 various types of illegal items in the store, including 155 disposable e-cigarettes, 22 e-cigarette devices, 218 bottles of e-cigarette liquid, 705 disposable e-cigarette liquid mouths, and 36 boxes of e-cigarette devices. Some of the seized e-cigarette products involved the brand "RELX".

Subsequently, the police detained three young men and formally charged them with concealing, aiding in the sale, and handling of prohibited goods. According to Thailand's customs regulations and consumer protection laws, this behavior could result in the suspects facing up to 5 years in prison, a fine equal to four times the value of the goods and customs duties, or both.
